The new Harvest festival run by the Soundwave team has been announced on Triple J this afternoon, via a link up with Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne.

Meaning, quite clearly, that Flaming Lips are returning to Australia for the first time since headlining Splendour in the Grass in 2009. They'll be joined by recent visitors The National, rarely seen UK legends Portishead, name-shifting troubadour Bright Eyes and kick-arse New York indie-soul guys the Walkmen.

UPDATE: Pre-sale tickets are on sale now.

As we reported back in June, the festival claims to be a "a banquet for the senses" and will have a capacity of between 15,000 and 20,000 per show. Here's the spiel that leaked back in June:

Harvest is a one day outdoor music and arts festival taking place this November in Melbourne (12 Nov), Sydney (13 Nov) and Brisbane (19 Nov). Catering for a discerning music and cross-arts audience, festival goers will come to Harvest for the world-class line-up and return for the extraordinary overall experience.

Thrilling and magical, Harvest is a banquet for the senses: exhilarating music, stunning location, beautiful art installations, playful and subversive performance, quality food and markets, and a strong ecological and social consciousness.

Created by the team behind Soundwave and Soundwave Revolution, Harvest will be a 15,000-20,000 capacity event with a top international music bill.
