While Andrew Stockdale prepares his expanded Wolfmother MK II for this weekend'sSound Relief concert, Chris Ross and Myles Heskett are to debut theirnew band in decidedly more low key fashion.
The duo have been working in tandem with one Matt Blackman, frontman for Sydney based group
Charge Group and drummer for fantasy rock specialists the
Tucker Bs. (Which - although Blackman wasn't in the band then - should enrage the simpletons who saw the Tucker Bs on the 2006 Wolfmother tour and were thus moved to track them down online to
write such things as:
“no word comes even close to describing u try hard faggots and your shit geneless gaylord “noise” go die in a hole.”)
The Wolfmother duo have played "side project" shows in the past under the name Doom Buggy, but with Blackman now on board they have a new name: Palace of Fire. Word is that the new trio combine the toughness and versatility of Wolfmother with the more refined, cinematic approach of Charge Group and Blackman's former band Purplene. Whom we love. As a result, we're fucking excited to hear it. No music to hear from the cupcakes yet but they do have a
myspace. Plus, if it's a good reason to re-post Charge Group's 'Lullaby for the Apocalypse' then so be it.
