Miss Nina Ribena has a one-track mind. And that track goes straight to jumpsuit town. Nina is known as "the onesie girl", and runs
Weareallinone, making all kinds of jumpsuits and playsuits for the lazy dresser, or those who hate to tuck.
"I've just always naturally gravitated towards all in ones. You don't really see many people wearing them because there's simply not a good selection to choose from! I was quite lucky to find a few gems and got a good reaction from people when I wore them so I just started to wear them all the time. Soon, I built up a reputation as the 'onesie girl' and found that there was a distinct lack of interesting all in ones for every day wear. So, I decided to just make my own," she says.
Nina got
Debruit, the debonair French squelchy dublectro post-funk up-and-comer into a one-piece jumpsuit for his new EP launch, Spatio Temporel. Debruit actually hates to tuck. It takes valuable time away from freak-step remixing. So he loved Nina's creation.
"
Dan Wilton - the photographer on the
Debruit shoot - told me that Debruit was after some interesting designs to wear. Working in Dalston, East London I've got access to a world of amazing African prints which I've been using for a few of my designs. So I picked a couple which I thought would suit him," she says.
Self-taught, Nina reckons the form of the jumpsuit provides a great framework for creative design. "My mum taught me how to use the sewing machine and make a pattern from other pieces of clothing - after that I set up a little sewing machine in a spare room in our house and I was away! I did a really crap film degree which made me completely reconsider what I wanted to do. I've always been really interested in fashion so it just seemed like a good idea to start my own business making things which I love."
Debruit Spatio Temporel out on January 11th from
