It seems that while the rest of us were busy looking else where, something has been brewing in Canberra. It’s always the quiet ones.

Fledgling label Book Club has been working on an amazing ss0910 collection for men that acts less as a summer range and more of a guide of ‘how to dress for men according to Kat.’ Men of Australia take note- approach me in some cutely coloured tailored shorts and a well fitting polo and I’ll let you buy me a drink. If you come bearing a paper bag containing a large double cheeseburger meal or some dirty chicken you get extra points.

Easy cool is the new black for men. Forget metro-sexualism or overly feminine outfits, and let preppy, clean looks define the summer. It’s Chuck Bass on a picnic, streamlined and simple with a long-on-top hair cut to take the cake. Shorts are back on the table for the warm weather, but avoid denim or anything that resembles a board short and you’re on the right track. Ockerism and surfy branding is always out, as are thongs unless you’re actually physically on the beach.

The only thing that could make these outfits more ready to appear on the end of my arm for beach side cocktails, back yard barbeques and days in the park is a slim blazer for when the breeze picks up in the evening. Hey presto, it’s my perfect man.
