After dabbling in jewellery design and undertaking an apprenticeship with a mosaic artist,
Agnes Montgomery decided to embrace the collage style that her mother taught her as a child growing up in Philadelphia.
"My mum would cut and paste together colourful collages to entertain me when I was young," she tells
The Pop Manifesto. "I saved them in a book and I still cherish them."
Montgomery started to collect quicky clippings from vintage sources, and began to create her own collages of about 4 x 4 inches. After holding an exhibition at a friend's gallery, she was recruited by a muso mate from the band Panda Bear to create their next album cover. Her popularity has grown from there.
Flick through the gallery of Montgomery's work and you'll note that the collages have a real sense of nostalgia to them – it’s like a warped childhood memory created with glue and scissors.
Enjoy.
