Villains make the best characters. They get the best lines, the best outfits, and they’re a lot more fun to be around. While a night out with a typical ‘hero’ will see you helping old ladies cross the street and lamenting the state of the world, a villain will get you drunk, get you laid, and plot interesting ways to take over the world. Fun and games – just don’t cross them. Or you'll get yourself killed.

Lucy Liu as O-Ren-Ishii (Kill Bill)
While the two Kill Bill films have some wonderfully evil female characters (Gogo Yubari, Elle Driver), the stand out is obviously Lucy Liu as O-Ren-Ishii; a Japanese crime boss with a thing for chopping of heads. Silly rabbits, indeed.

Megan Fox as Jennifer Check (Jennifer’s Body)
Is ‘sexing’ Megan Fox worth losing your life over? What if we threw in some lesbianism? Discuss.

Jennifer Jason Leigh as Hedra Carlson (Single White Female)
Moral of this story – don’t rent shitty thrillers from the early '90s about psycho housemates.

Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes (Misery)
Man has car accident on country back road, gets nursed back to health by kindly lady. Oh wait, she’s crazy.

Salma Hayeck as Satánico Pandemónium (From Dusk Till Dawn)
Salma Hayeck made her film debut as a stripper / vampire in Robert Rodriguez’ From Dusk Till Dawn. While she’s gone on to appear in a bunch of other films, we can’t name any of them when we think about this scene.

Rosie Perez as Perdita (Perdita Durango)
Violence, horror and sexploitation shoot up a Mexican town in this cult hit. Rosie Perez and her partner in crime get bored knocking off banks and decided to up the ante by kidnapping and sacrificing a couple.

Tura Satana as Varla (Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!)
Psychotic go-go dancers murder a dude, kidnap his girlfriend, wear cleavage revealing outfits and race their way through the desert in this exploitation classic.

Reiko Ike as o-Ch? Inoshika (Sex and Fury)
Wikipedia describes this as a “1973 violent revenge soft-core pornographic Japanese film.” We’d be inclined to agree. While the main character, Reiko Ike, is more of an anti-hero than a villain, she’s too awesome to omit from this list.

Margaret Hamilton as The Wicked Witch of the West (Wizard of Oz)
“Fly my pretties, fly!” Anyone who can unleash flying monkeys on their nemeses deserves a place on this list. Some jerk on YouTube has displayed the embedding function on the video (why?), so here’s the intro to a Wizard of Oz cartoon we used to watch as kids.
