Greig Anderson's Helvetica wall calendar.
HEL YEAH!
It doesn’t take much searching to find something written in the Helvetica font. In fact, Helvetica is such an old favourite (and by old, I mean 51 years old) that it’s practically achieved cult status. Hell, some guy even mad a movie about it. Imagine that. A movie about a font!

Here's the trailer:

Love it or hate it, Helvetica is here to stay. Glasgow based graphic designer Greig Anderson of Effektive Design loves it so much that he has produced this slick little wall calendar as a tribute. The calendar itself is a tribute to Anderson’s simple but oh-so-cool design style. Check out the Helvetica Calendar in the image gallery.

BEFORE & AFTER
Wasting stuff = Bad. Recycling stuff = good. Before & After = awesome.

Melbourne duo, Dhiren Bhagwandas and Justin Hutchinson have produced an exhibition called Before & After as part of Melbourne’s State of Design Festival.
Before & After explores the use and re-use of discarded objects, and will display the work of over 15 Australian designers who have put a new spin on some old discarded products.
The works will be on display at Eat Green Design, Level 2, 39 Little Collins St Melbourne from the 17th - 21st July.

BOARD STUDENT, GOOD REPORT CARD
I don’t know how he did it, and I’m not sure you’d want to ride it around on a wet Melbourne morning, but 21-year-old English design student, Phil Bridge has made a bike from cardboard. Cool eh?
Phil sites affordability as his main inspiration for making a bicycle from paper products: who’d want to steal a bike that’s worth bugger all? But from an environmental point of view, paper products are way better than carbon fibre, or alloy metals. Besides which, it looks fairly cool too. Nice one.

REECE FOR THE STARS
Alright, you budding industrial designers, put down that X-box controller and pick up your sketching pencils. The Bathroom Innovation Award is on again. What’s that? Never heard of it? Well strap in, because you could win some serious cashola off this bad boy.
The Bathroom Innovation Award is a competition run by Reece (the guys who make taps and toilets), which rewards innovative design of - you guessed it - bathroom products. You have to be either a design student or professional to enter, and there’s a chance to win $10,000 for students and $20,000 for professionals. Have a look at the website to see what’s on offer.

neeko Senior citizen neeko ON 03 Jul 2008 03:01:45PM helvetica schmetica. i really don't dig the fascination that people have with this font. people like the font's status more than the actual typography in my opinion. i bet half the examples used in the clip were created by uncreative people, or "corporates" as i like to refer to them as. sorry sammy. i liked your cardboard bike though.
