Nan Goldin

Wednesday, July 02, 2008
Nan Goldin is a photographer and celebrated fine artist.

She is famous for her portraits of her one-time lover Siobahn and her group of gay friends, that included cross dressers, AIDS victims, and junkies.

Goldin suggests that her work is about memory and her photographs are representations of subcultural explorations and gendered identity. Her snapshot aesthetic includes images of drug use, violence, aggressive couples and many of her own fairly personal moments.

As above, so below.
