For Goodness Sake

Tuesday, July 01, 2008
For goodness sake, lets have a party! Maedaya Grill & Sake Bar in Melbourne is a rare authentic Japanese izakaya style sake bar which apparently, is very hard to find anywhere outside of Japan.

But just this once, you will only have to travel to Richmond.

As its name implies, the specialty here is Japanese sake (Maedaya stocks more than 60 types of premium sake directly imported from Japan) and charcoal grills, and over 70 different Japanese tapas and yakitori.

Japanese sake master Toshi Maeda has sought to re-create the Japanese izakaya experience. He is always on hand to greet and talk to patrons, and will even show you how to match your sake with your choice of dishes.

There are two floors in MAEDAYA. At ground floor, the main feature is sake and yakitori charcoal grill. The ground floor menu consisted of over 70 different authentic Japanese tapas dishes such as Edamame, Gyoza, Karaage, Agedashi Tofu & Wagyu Steak including over 25 vegetarian dishes. Upstairs, they feature yakiniku which is Japanese traditional charcoal grill BBQ on your table.

Sake it to me.
