Are you ready for lady-mullet haircuts to become all the rage? There's a good chance that's going to happen this year thanks to The Runaways.

Starring Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart, The Runaways tells the "true" story of the wonderfully kick-arse teenage girlband from the '70s.

The film gives little Dakota Fanning the chance to belt out a tune or two. A clip giving fans a glimpse of her musical prowess has just been released on YouTube (see below).

We've got to admit, she does a pretty mean Cherie Currie (though we couldn't help but chuckle at Michael K's take on it over on D-Listed: "This is basically what it looks like when your little cousin (the one who always rolls her eyes at you) plays Rock Band without parental supervision.")



My my. That cute kid from the harrowing Sean Penn movie is all grown up, eh?



The Runaways is due for release in Australia this July.
