Britain has recorded the dullest August since records began in1929, with the entire country measuring just 105.5 hours of sunshine over the month. August is the height of summer in the northern hemisphere and traditionally the month were Brits and other Europeans shut up shop to enjoy the sunshine.
The month's average is usually 165 hours, the UK Met Office said. The office also recorded thefifth wettest August on record with the country receiving 139.8 millimetres of rain.
Still, they musn't grumble and Met Office spokesman John Hammond said "Forautumn we are very much expecting temperatures to be above average andfor the season itself to have below average rainfall," he said.
Chin up and all that. One could always purchase a ticket to Australia and see first hand what nice weather is really like.
