Now that our wrap up of the Laneway Festivals in Melbourne and Sydney is complete, we'd like to draw your attention to the TheVineTV. Not that you need more ways to prolong getting anything done today, but wait, hear us out.
For the first time since, well, Laneway in 2009, we caught up backstage at the Melbourne event with a bunch of artists playing the festival. To have a chat, to shoot the shit and to quiz some of most interesting musicians currently going.
What did we find? That Florence and the Machine's trailer once exploded while the band were driving, destroying all their instruments. That the Middle East are kind've spaced out to be soon sharing a bill with the likes of Sly and the Family Stone at the Coachella Festival in California. That the Dirty Three love playing at festivals amongst the elements, but don't expect another record anytime soon. That The xx had just played their hottest show ever, and Eddy Current much prefer the smaller festivals. That Daniel Johnston goes comic book shopping before he plays. And that Sarah Blasko made her band wear tuxedo t-shirts today. Oh and a little chat with festival organiser Danny Rogers and some roving crowd cam to boot. All interspersed with footage of the bands playing live. Epic.
Many thanks to interviewers Pat McGrath and Nick Holt for holding court with our subjects, as well as cameramen Lester Francois and Joel Best.
Enjoy.
