I guess the director was going for a sort've "moody exorcism" vibe for
this, the first single from
King of Leon's upcoming
Only By The Night
LP. Instead it's a sweaty ad for PETA and Gillette.
In the clip the boys mince around a barn chasing chickens, each other, and writhing on a bed. In between the gratuitous man on man action are those vacuous "well I'm out of ideas" directorial exercises, like having a bucket of water poured over someone's head, eyeball closeups and...slurping mouths chewing down chicken. That's no euphemism, by the way. Guess it's a Southern thing.
Now I don't imagine it would be too hard to make a clip for Kings of Leon. Get them to stand in front of the camera and press record.
*Director rattling camera in disbelief* "Their
faces are on this now? I'm a genius!"
If you thought the title and lyric for 'Sex On Fire' is one of the dumbest things you've ever heard...you're not alone. Singer Caleb Followill is right there with you. The frontman apparently dreads performing the song live because the lyrics are too embarrassing to sing. WENN reports:
The rocker branded the track "ridiculous" after his bandmates pitched the hook, which repeats: "You, your sex is on fire". He says, "I was like, 'Come on man, I gotta be singing about someone's fiery sex for a year and half? It's a bold title, y'know, we're getting old and we're trying to make people think we still have the sex drive that we did."Their drive for chicken meanwhile remains unstoppable.
Only By The Night is out September 23.
