Jack White's new coalition of the willing in The Dead Weather touched down in Leeds UK over the weekend, in the midst of a 15 date European tour.

All that touring is providing an inspiration of sorts to White and Co as it turns out. Despite their one album Horehound having been released in July, singer Alison Mosshart told the BBC's Radio 1 Newsbeat that the group are planning on returning to the studio in the next month or so:

"In between now and Christmas I'm going to go back to [White's studio in] Nashville at some point. [The new songs] sound great. I really like them. We've been playing three or four of them onstage, so they keep changing all the time."

We thought the band's debut Horehound was pretty damn good - there's invariably a couple of essential tracks on pretty much anything Jack White's involved in - and 'I Cut Like A Buffalo' is one of them. The band seems to think so too, having released a typically cartoonish video for it a couple of weeks back. Still prefer the raggedy live cut though.

Despite the Dead Weather not being named in the first Big Day Out announcement - as "leaked" - rumours persist that the band will be here for our summer season. Fingers crossed.
