Last Friday, a
s we sweltered in the showgrounds at Soundwave, 3,500 people were collecting their belongings and making their way to the Melbourne Zoo.
Reason being that the wonderful Sound Safari was on once again. We witnessed Eddy Current Suppression Ring doing the business there on a similarly warm night last year, and thought the set-up fantastic. Literally right beside the lion enclosure, we lazed around on the grass holiday-style, until Eddy Current burst on to stage. Families waved their children in the air.
It was awesome.
Judging from the photos by Raphael Recht, the Chicago rapper raised the bar on Friday night. He seemed to think so too, writing on his
MySpace page soon after:
A big "CHOICE" shout out to all the fans in New Zealand & Australia for coming out in a MASSIVE way and supporting the first leg of the STEPPIN' LASER WORLD TOUR!!!
We had the most fun we had on tour in a long time. We really appreciate the hospitality, the love and the utter craziness that took place at the shows.
The reviews have been off the charts and we are so humbled by the kind words and appreciation of the effort & energy we try to put into our shows to make it a great and worthy experience for all the fans.
It was really a motivating and inspiring kick-off of which we hope will the one of the best Lupe Fiasco concert series we've ever had.
We WILL be back...Godwillin'
