Last year's soundtrack for
Twilight: New Moon came as a bit of a surprise. What with Thom Yorke, Death Cab For Cutie, Grizzly Bear and Bon Iver all lending a spot of credibility to the flick, the result at least gave column inches to the film over to ordinarily discerning music websites. Here we go again.
The soundtrack for the next installment of Werewolves vs Vampire fetuses, aka
Twilight: Eclipse, holds names such as The Dead Weather, Muse, Metric, Florence and the Machine, behind the gloomy visages of Robert Pattison, Kristen Stewart and that other frowny guy. Some of the selections make perfect sense - Florence and the Machine, Muse and The Dead Weather have an abundance of melodramtic histronics to spare. Sia, Metric and Bat For Lashes aren't far behind, while Vampire Weekend appear more for their name than their spirit. Elsewhere, The Black Keys, The Bravery and Band of Horses turn up for the paychecks.
I wonder if
these people can look forward to a shock visit from Jack White, now.
