Former Genesis singer, WOMAD founder and long-time advocate for world music Peter Gabriel may be on his way to Australia for the first time in years. In a message on his website, Gabriel addressed the concerns of fans wondering why he doesn’t tour a great deal these days: “I’m still trying to have a family life at the same time, so I don’t really want to be a road dog and come out on tour”. However, he did mention that he may be visiting Melbourne later this year: “There is one exception to that rule, which is a very quick visit to down to Melbourne… That’ll be in November with the band.”

November coinicides with the Melbourne Cup, at which Gabriel has apparently been invited to play. There are no dates as yet, but Melbournites - and other fans keen enough to travel to check out the show – should watch this space. Go on, have a flutter. It's the Australian way. Etc. Etc.

More definite information is available for fans of The Ting Tings – the British duo are playing a couple of sideshows in addition to their appearance at Splendour in the Grass. They play the Palace Theatre in Melbourne on Monday 26 July and the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Wednesday 28 July.

And also on the Splendour tip, Florence & The Machine have announced extra sideshow dates for Sydney and Melbourne. In addition to the shows already announced, Florence et al are gonna be playing Festival Hall in Melbourne on Monday 2 August and Hordern Pavillion in Sydney on Sunday 8 August.

And that’s all, she wrote.
