With festival season coming to an end, at last, there’s actually room for local acts to book decent-sized tours, and several have been announced this week. Here’s a round-up...
Adalita is supporting the release of her eponymous debut solo album (out on Friday 4 March via Liberation) with a fairly hefty tour throughout March, April and early May. Here at The Vine, we’ve been lucky enough to hear the album already, and are happy to report that it’s really great – stripped-back and confessional, definitely more minimal than Magic Dirt’s work but losing nothing in the way of atmospherics or evocativeness. Support for the tour comes from Amaya Laucirica, who also sings on album track ‘Good Girl’. Magic Dirt fans will also be interested to know that Raúl Sanchez has a new band – they’re called River of Snakes, and you can check out their work
here.

Hot on the release of their new video, ever more massive Melbourne globe-conquerors

The Holidays and Melbourne up-and-comers
World’s End Press splitting support slot duties between them.

While speaking to a friend recently, The Vine was pondering exactly how bands manage to keep up with the touring grind - long drives, early flights, bad roadhouse food. The answer was fairly obvious - shitloads of caffeine and/or other, um, more exotic stimulants - but the exception was
My Disco. “Oh no,” we were told, “they don’t drink or anything. So they finish a show, give every one a cheery wave, and drive to Sydney. And arrive as fresh as daisies.” With such clean-living ways and mighty stamina, this short East Coast jaunt in support of the double LP vinyl version of the most excellent
Little Joy should be a walk in the proverbial park.
MY DISCO - APRIL 2011

Saturday 9 April - Totally Autumn Festival, Croatian Club, Newcastle
Saturday 16 April - The Bakery, Perth

Sure signs that the ‘90s revival is in full swing, #231:
Jebediah are touring. The band’s reunion has been one of the unexpected and rather welcome successes of recent years, and they have a new album called
Kosciusko out via Dew Process on Friday 15 April. Dew Process are, of course, the label who kinda rejuvenated The Living End’s career, so it’ll be interesting to see if they can do the same for Kevin Mitchell et al. Anyway, the tour dates are as follows:
JEBEDIAH - MAY 2011
Friday 6 May - Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Saturday 7 May - Bended Elbow, Geelong
Thursday 26 May - The Maram, Canberra
Friday 27 May - Factory Theatre, Sydney
Saturday 28 May - Cambridge Hotel, Newcastle
Friday 3 June - Hi-Fi Bar, Brisbane
Saturday 4 June - Irish Club, Toowoomba
Friday 10 June - Astor Theatre, Perth
Sunday 12 June - The Gov, Adelaide

And finally,
Architecture in Helsinki – remember them? – have signed to Modular and are releasing a new album called
Moment Bends. As well as their slots on the Groovin the Moo festival, they’ve booked three solo dates in May so far to support said release – sadly, there’s no word on whether Kellie Sutherland is ever going to resurrect her infinitely more enjoyable (in this writer's humble opinion) Your Wedding Night project. There’s also no word on a Sydney date, curiously. Or Perth, for that matter. Or Adelaide. Or...
