Phew. The festivals are almost over. The international touring bands have almost all gone home. And now what are we left with? Months of summer nostalgia and shaking the dirt out of your tent.

We're not quite done yet, though. Two new April tour announcements came stuttering down the wire today.

Gareth Liddiard returns to stages as a solo performer after singeing eyebrows and ear hair around the country with The Drones in recent weeks. Quiet and intimate? Maybe. Still no guarantee you'll be able to parse the lyrics on first pass, but the man knows how to roll you up inside a song and spit you out at the end. So be prepared to get a little roughed up when he plays some live dates in April. That's just before he heads into the studio with the band to set down the follow-up to Havilah. New songs? Maybe. Who cares? It's Gareth Liddiard onstage. Go and learn a thing or two. He also has a solo album due before year's end.

15th April, The Troubadour, Brisbane
16th April, Notes Live, Sydney
23rd April, Northcote Social Club, Melbourne

MGMT have an LP much closer to being released than the Drones. In fact, it's so close -- five weeks -- that the band have already booked an Australian date for the release show. Date. Singular. It's in Sydney and tickets are limited to two per person. This is serious. The band have toured Australia twice already -- as some of you may recall, sweetly or sourly. So... will they or won't they be shit this time?

Tickets go on sale 11th March at 9am -- that's Thursday.

6th April, Metro, Sydney.
