17 years ago today, the frontman of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, put an end to his bands seismic impact on the music industry by placing a shotgun in his mouth. Tortured by the perils of fame, drugs and an already out of control personal legacy, the singer's decisive actions would make him an instant martyr, ensuring his music would live on forevermore. And that the image of Cobain would remain ageless; forever 27 on record covers, tee shirts, plastic dolls and video games the world over.

It's no surprise that every song here is a cover of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. What is surprising is the simple songs complete assailing of musical, cultural and age/sex-specific boundaries. For all the tacky shit that's been attached to the band and singer's name, at least perhaps it's the songs universal embrace that can be taken as a sign that the music did outstrip the caricature in the end.

Haha just kidding. Here we go:

7. This isn't really too bad in the scheme of things, but totally worth it for the caterwauling screech at 1:15.

6. If you watch just the first 10 seconds of this video over and over again, you can actually nearly die from laughing; simply for the fact that as soon as he opens his mouth to sing, an ambulance/police car/fire engine whizzes past.

"Boy, that was quick officer! They're right over there".
