We offer a new little service for you today on TheVine. From today on
we'll be streaming ENTIRE new albums for your listening pleasure. Not
30 second samples. Not just the hits. Not just the misses. No longer will you dig the single
and then buy the album to find out it's shit. All you have to do is
launch the music player - down there on the right hand side of every page - and away you judge.
On our maiden launch we're proud to debut TheVine Music Player with the excellent first LP for Brooklyn duo
MGMT,
Oracular Spectacular.
No doubt you would've heard the first couple of singles 'Time to
Pretend' and 'Kids'. But know that this psychedelic indie-pop opus is
deep in quality tunes (bar maybe the sluggish '4th Dimensional
Transition') with the album sliding from the candy pop of the opener to
the darker and more baroquely arranged latter half of the record. In
fact we said as much in our giant
Oracular Spectacular review.
They've copped a little backlash for signing to a major label, but
don't let hipster jibes or the MS Paint "acid trip" visuals put you off.
There's some fun pop, left-of centre narratives and a unique vision
under all that neon. Enjoy.
