The Pixies came to Australia for the first time ever in 2007. Back then they played to thousands of people at the V Festival along with a couple of sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney. They also played a miniscule show to only 350 people at the Northcote Social Club in Melbourne, pre-V Fest. (Even Jarvis Cocker was there). Afterwards, Frank Black was last seen strolling across the street to the ATM like ANY NORMAL HUMAN BEING! Evidently he's with NAB.

The band are coming back to Australia to support the re-release of their 1989 classic Doolittle. Arguably their best album. Meaning that they will be playing the album in its entirety, along with related B-Sides and whatnot. Amazing.

The famed indie music instigators officially disbanded in acrimonious fashion in 1993, after five albums of punk-surf inflected guitar rock. Their back catalogue of typically "quiet verse/loud chorus" songwriting and obtuse lyrical matter would form the template for the alternative rock movemet of the early to mid '90s, their legacy championed by fans such as U2, Radiohead, Weezer, and of course Nirvana, whose Kurt Cobain famously said he was basically trying to "rip off".

The Pixies reunited in 2004 and toured the world to rapturous reception. After aborting attempts to record a new album in 2008, frontman Frank Black has said that the band are hoping to record an album of new material in 2010.
