Spice Girls to finally tour Australia
On their breakfast show this morning, shlockjock Kyle “Scandilalnds” Sandilands and his partner Jackie O announced that the Spice Girls (as in, the originals – not the disaster duo on this season’s My Kitchen Rules) will tour Australia in 2014, according to 2Day FM.
While the pair refused to reveal where they sourced the information from, the station has a close relationship with Mel B (aka Scary Spice) who now lives in Sydney.
The Baby, Ginger, Sporty, Scary and Posh-starring tour has no dates or name as yet, but the five delivered a wonderfully nostalgic performance at last year’s London Olympics Closing Ceremony and reunited to promote the offshore-only Viva Forever musical, a story based around their songs. They also all seemed to be getting along nicely, and even made friends with Noel Gallagher after their famous '90s beefing. All good signs!
After a 2008 tour that never came to fruition, it’s still hard to get our hopes up about this one—mostly because the thought of Victoria Beckham, now one of fashion’s most formidable forces—donning a “little black dress” and giggling on stage with her former posse seems a bit too good to be true.
Still, when/ if tickets come out, for us fans who grew up on a diet of Union Jack bodycons, belly-tops and crimped locks, eyes will be scratched out and moonboots will resurface.
