Forthcoming We Love Sounds headliners Underworld have released their first new music since 2007. Titled 'Scribble', the first single from their forthcoming album is a collaboration with Welsh DJ/producer High Contrast. The band have posted the 'short' version of 'Scribble' for free download on their website, valid until 20th May 2010.

They've also made a video for the track. Possibly one of the cheapest videos ever committed to the internet. And yet somehow, it works just fine.

Ronnie James Dio - 'Rainbow in the Dark'

He may not have been the household name that his predecessor Ozzy Osbourne became, but for many metal diehards, Ronnie James Dio more truly personified the genre. The legendary Ozzy-replacement singer for Black Sabbath (as frontman for his subsequent band, Dio) passed away yesterday after a six month battle with stomach cancer. He was 67.

His wife and manager, Wendy Dio, posted this statement to his official site:

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

Though Dio was recognised as being one of the most powerful singers of the initial 'classic' metal era, he will perhaps be more widely remembered as being responsible for popularising the infamous 'devil's horns'. Respect.

Q: Did you ever think Macy Gray should perform Arcade Fire's 'Wake Up'?
A: No. I did not.

Currently everywhere (YouTube specials, Pitchfork presentations, GQ fashion spreads), The National wheeled out Sufjan Stevens to perform High Violet highlight 'Afraid of Everyone' on Letterman over the weekend. We spoke to singer Matt Berninger about High Violet just a few weeks ago, during which he said the band are likely to be here in January 2011.

Three tracks have leaked from Christina Aguilera's forthcoming album Bionic. If you're into that sort've thing.

Bionic

I Hate Boys

You Lost Me

The Prophet Blog (from whence these links came) summed up the collection as:

So far almost everything from Bionic sounds like it’s been done about three years ago by some other artist, but while it may be dated and quite unoriginal the songs themselves are still pretty catchy and enjoyable, and should make for a solid and very listenable pop album.

'The Spaces In Between' is the first taste from Trent Reznor's new (kind've lamely titled?) project, How To Destroy Angels. Startlingly creepy. As you'd hope.

And lastly, but certainly least, Katy Perry has enlisted the help of Snoop Dogg for her new single 'California Gurls'. The grammatically challenged track is intended to be a 'response' to Jay-Z's ubiquitous 'New York State of Mind'. Mmm. Here's the unlikely couple at work:

And the finished track:

Snoop should be ashamed.
