Petulant dads Oasis have announced details of their seventh album. Titled Dig Out Your Soul the album is rumoured to feature the first 'rap' from Noel Gallgher.

*Bum rap. Noel Gallagher says: “If (first single) ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ sounds instant and compelling to you, it’s because it was written dead fast. And recorded dead fast. ‘The Shock of The Lightning’ basically is thed emo. And it has retained its energy. And there’s a lot to be said for that, I think. The first time you record something is always the best.”

Which doesn't back up at all why Definitely, Maybe was completely re-recorded before release. But does maybe the fact that Be Here Now sucked. Noel goes on: "I wanted to write music that had a groove;not songs that followed that traditional pattern of verse, chorus andmiddle eight. I wanted a sound that was more hypnotic; more driving.Songs that would draw you in, in a different way. Songs that you wouldmaybe have to connect to - to feel.”

I feel...that Be Here Now was bad. Anyways, the new record was recorded at Abbey Road and produced once again by Dave Sardy - who's so switched on his name has popped up in recent stories for Cold War Kids and Children Collide - and mixed in LA.

Still no word of a permanent drummer for the group. Meaning they can continue getting away with photos like this one.

Dig Out Your Soul
is out October.
