Augie March might have traipsed about in this 'nautical outpost' video setting before. But never with so many jazz hands.
In the band's video for 'Heartbeat and Sails' from their debut
Sunset Studies, we saw the group decked out in sailing gear, flummoxing about a vessel somewhere on the south coast of Victoria. In 'Little Wonder' it was down to just frontman Glenn Richards recreating the fate of one Neil Wilson, a Victorian man found dead in a field in 1995. Wilson had evidently suffocated while dressed in a homemade fish suit. Richards escapes such a fate in the video, but does manage to wobble around on a bicycle a bit.
Now in their latest video it appears he's mastered the act. The first official tune from
Watch Me Disappear, their highly anticipated follow up to 2006's
Moo, You Bloody Choir is the jaunty number 'Pennywhistle'. In it we see Richards fondling fish, a keyboard player with a hook for a hand playing saxaphone, and a drummer being delivered physically what is often suggested verbally when the band is onstage. Oh and there's a dance troupe at the end. Feast:
