The lead single from Morrissey's ninth solo album - Years of Refusal - is now online with its own video, and will no doubt be pored over forensically by fans the world over.
For instance, they may question the significance of not brushing his hair for the occasion, but when you're Stephen Patrick Morrissey you can pretty much do things your own way, including making love to buildings according to "I'm throwing my arms around Paris".
Well, it's cheaper than hookers...
In other news, Morrissey has hinted to Filter magazine that he may choose to retire gracefully, and sooner rather than later...
“I don’t want to go on much longer, really. I think that would suggest a lack of imagination. A certain lack of
dignity also. There has to reach a point where you’ve said enough, I
think.”
Years of Refusal was produced by Jerry Finn, who died tragically of a massive brain hemorrhage only a month after completing the album. He was only 39 and was known for his punk pop sound, working with Blink 182, Sparta, AFI, Green Day, and had previously produced Morrissey's You are the Quarry album.
Expect to hear more of Finn's punk pop sensibilities on the rest of the album apparently. RIP.
