Michael Jackson's long rumoured run of live shows at London's O2 Arena is officially
on,
hee hee!The whole precarious operation got off to a - relatively - smooth start with Jackson appearing a mere 90 minutes late to his own press conference (see below). Thank you, GPS!
Jackson was the picture of
death professionalism throughout, successfully milking the valuable live satellite feed with extended pauses, heavy repetition of the official tag-line,
"This is it", and liberal use of that old favourite,
"I love you."Maybe he
can pull it off!
Not his face, you understand, but this whole turning up and doing the business malarky.
Jackson, wearing the same sparkly military look he was rocking over two decades ago, announced that his shows in July will be the last time he ever performs in London. But there was some upbeat news regarding the setlist.
"I'll be playing the songs my fans wanna hear", he promised.
"Womanizer by Britney!" they responded en masse.
Barring jail, or physical and/or mental collapse, Jackson will perform for 10 nights, starting July 8th.
"This is it, I'll see you in July," he closed with, after an impressive extended remix of the
"I love you" routine.
Yup, still got it!
