DFA recording artistes Holy Ghost have done a remix of MGMT's 'Of Moons, Birds & Monsters'. Disco beat ahoy.

It strips the song down to its essentials, namely the vocals. It's kind've shocking to hear how small and 'normal' they sound after the super produced album version. We had an interview lined up with MGMT before Oracular Spectacular came out and were all set to find out just how much Dave Friedmann had to do with the sound of the album. Alas, it was cancelled due to scheduling. The band have got some great songs but it's the way they explode with all the bells and whistles of Friedmann' production that just maybe, is the true star of the record.

This remix makes the song more dance-floor friendly but strangely, a little spacier than the original; a nice suggestion of where the duo could go on the next record. Which isn't being produced by the Chemical Brothers by the way. From the band's blog:

"Also, contrary to another internet rumor, though they be rad dudes, the Chemical Brothers will not be producing MGMT's next album."

Shame. 'The Golden Path Pt. II' surely?
