Listen: New Phoenix single 'Entertainment'

We're partial to French pop guys Phoenix, having interviewed them a bunch of times, including meeting up with them in a hotel room in Melbourne, sat and watched a whole 'Making Of' documentary about their breakthrough LP Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, and raved about their live show. Of the latter we said:

"At this moment in time, French pop geniuses Phoenix may be the most perfect band in the world. [They] walk the tight-rope between perfect pop ('Lisztomania'), shameless '80s nostalgia ('Too Young') stadium-filling rock ('Rome') epic prog rock ('Love Like A Sunset Pts I and II') and disco-funk ('If I Ever Feel Better') with such confidence, panache, love and fun, it's like they invented the whole damn thing."

So it's with reasonable expectation that today comes the first taste of their much-anticipated follow up, Bankrupt!. 'Entertainment' has all the Phoenix hallmarks -- restless arrangement, beguiling English-as-a-second-language lyrics, a huge wordless chorus (some Arcade Fire style moments there too) and maximum compression. Very well then.

Bankrupt! is out April 23. Here's the artwork and tracklisting.
