Lindsay Lohan and James Franco made an R.E.M. video clip

Lindsay Lohan and James Franco made an R.E.M. video clip

In early 2011 with the intent of accompanying their final album, Collapse Into Now, R.E.M. initiated the “Collapse Into Now Film Project”, which involves a collection of famous artists and filmmakers each directing a music video to accompany one song on the album. Previous offerings have come from Sam Taylor-Wood, Tom Gilroy and Albert Maysles.

This latest video comes courtesy of James Franco, and features a giddying 90s inspired montage of blurry, washed out shots of L.A. There’s also some footage in there of Lindsay Lohan’s session with Terry Richardson at the Chateau Marmont, which Franco presumably filmed. Lohan, the subject, poses lazily in a black lingerie concoction for the double lenses of Richardson and, behind him, Franco.

The song features vocals by Michael Stipe and Patti Smith, and you can check it out below.
