As Howard Moon would say, "What a combo."
The Sun is reporting that
Mighty Boosh duo Noel Fielding and Dave Brown (Bollo the ape, and Fielding's mate from art school) are set to create an epic video for
Kasabian's psychedelic third album -
West Rider Pauper Lunatic Asylum.
The handy 'source' told the British rag that the initial idea was for cover artwork, but the ideas kept coming until...
“Noel wants to return to the idea of cramming an epic into ten minutes — think CAPTAIN
BEEFHEART remaking Thriller. It’s going to be a chaotic, arthouse spoof
and the overall idea is intended to make the band and the viewer feel like
they’ve been shrunk and dropped into the kind of plastic, glittering
kaleidoscope you buy at a fair.
“And the Kasabian lads are going to have to dress up, because Noel and Dave
are going for the effect of a mini feature film.
“There’ll be a series of sketches in which, we’ve been told, the band will
appear in a way we’ve never seen them before.
“New characters are promised as well as some amazing effects.
“Dave has been looking at black and white, colour filter and even 3-D
technology.”
Richard Ayoade, star of The IT Crowd, award winning director of Arctic Monkeys videos, and The Boosh's belligerent shaman Saboo, will also star in the ten-minute video for the single, "Vlad the Impaler".
Kasabian's third album, produced by Dan The Automater, has been described by frontman Tom Meighan as one continuous journey...
“It all joins together which is beautiful, there’s no gaps in it, it’s
very psychedelic, there’s very much elements of the first but it’s a
more distant sounding Kasabian than we have been with the last two
albums.”Dear God,
Please let this turn into a full album / film experience like Daft Punk's
Interstella 5555... but in glorious 3D.
Thank you.
p.s. Kasabian, if this happens, all is forgiven.
West Rider Pauper Lunatic Asylum is due for release on 8th June 2009.
