Florence Welch will write a musical
Florence Welsh has recently revealed her aspiration to write a musical: a project she will embark on as part of her plan to take a year off after her band finishes its European tour next month. Speaking of her decision to take a short hiatus, Welch commented: “I’ve been on tour since I was 21. I need a break and to have the chance to do normal things [...] If I started writing songs now, all they’d be about is tour buses and hotel rooms.”
Last week, the singer attended the launch of Kate: The Kate Moss Book, where she was joined by school friend Sophie Hart-Walsh, with whom she plans to write the musical. Hart-Walsh, a film costume designer, recounted her history with Welch, saying: “We always used to write songs about our lives and sing them to each other. We always said we should make them into a musical.”
The pair’s ultimate objective is to get the show into the West End—a feat we’re sure they’ll have no problems accomplishing.
