Sydney - Hordern Pavillion w/ Sigur Ros 2/08/08
The Hordern is a Sydney institution and it was one of the first big live concert venues I went to as a kid. So it's pretty exciting to get the opportunity to play here. Old school friends I haven't seen in years turn up to check it out. We don't have a gig the next day which is nice, so we take the opportunity to have a few more drinks than usual afterwards. Just one or two maybe.
Melbourne - East Brunswick Club 7/8/08
Melbourne's always a tough away game, but finally it seems momentum is starting build for us down south, with a near sold out show. We just haven't played here nearly enough.
This gig seems to be one of our better ones of late. Support comes in the form of DIY experimentalists Bum Creek, and organ/drum duo Fabulous Diamonds. We're especially excited to finally have some bands to put a bill together with seem to be like minded in some way, after years spent in the nether world between Sydney's Indie and electronic/experimental scenes.
Difficult for me to gauge the crowd's response amidst a sea of sub bass on stage, but the other guys assure me we've done a good thing here on this evening.
I am glad that the confusion over the contents of the rider for our previous visit to the EBC has been cleared up - the case of 'smirnoff double black' has been replaced with 'beer'.
