I don't know if you read David Byrne's blog like I do, but you should. The man is a poster boy for the curious mind.

When he's not resting on his laurels noting the pervasive influence of his old band Talking Heads sweeping the land, he's making art, taking photos, curating exhibitions, writing plays, questioning new media, and most recently, passing judgement on the latest oil crises. He's the silver-haired indie Superhero essentially.

Lately he's been touring across the US with a dance troupe in tow. The reason for this? Cause it sounds awesome. But also, he's just released a new record in conjunction with producer Brian Eno (Roxy Music, U2, Coldplay) titled Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. Unlike their previous collaboration, the critically-acclaimed and moody My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, the new album is a pop affair that dovetails neatly with Byrnes more recent pop excursions. Standout tracks like 'Strange Overtones' and 'Wanted For Life' arguably recall some of Talking Heads best moments, which if you've seen him perform live in the last few years

In August the album was released digitally via the duo's website, as DRM-free MP3s. It could also be streamed in its entirety for free (as per below). It was an experimental move for the media-savvy Byrne, who a week before mused on his blog:

"I’m also wondering whether the web-curious will allow news of the album to spread more or less by itself. In the past, I might have undertaken all kinds of expensive marketing plans to prepare for a record release: there would be a teaser, live shows, posters, magazine ads, interviews, and advance CDs sent to writers and reviewers. We’ve done a few interviews, but that’s about it. It will be interesting to see if audiences find out about this song — and the record — without all those marketing techniques, and solely through Internet word-of-mouth."

Byrne is bringing this collaboration to Australia in the New Year. Hot.
