Note: This was going to be a wrap-up of Saturday's Glastonbury show but it was only Coldplay headlining. Yesterday I falsely reported that Beyonce would be on in that slot but she's actually tonight (Sunday). Obviously my brain was hoping that Saturday's Coldplay set wasn't really happening but it has happened and there's nothing we can do about it now. Apologies. On to better news...

A spanking new Björk single from her upcoming album Biophilia can now be heard in its entirety over at Disconaiveté below:

Bjork - 'Crystalline'

Celebrations all round, though it's probably safe to assume from hearing the xylophone-heavy 'Crystalline' that she hasn't yet returned to the club-friendly days of her Debut album. Ah well, she's the genius, who are we to argue?

How genius? Did the launch of Apple's iPad cause you to sit down and ponder how sound works in nature, and inspire you to explore the infinite expanse of the universe, from planetary systems to atomic structure? It did for Björk, and from those humble beginnings she's put together a multimedia project that encompasses the new album, music apps, installations and live shows. If that all came from the iPad, what the hell is window shopping like for her? Must be exhausting.

According to The Guardian, Biophilia will be released as conventional album and accompanied by (no doubt amazing) music videos, including one by Michel Gondry (hoorah!). If you buy the iPad version of the album it will contain 10 different apps that are each based on particular songs. You'll be able to explore these interactively on your iPad, even recreating the songs your way.

Also amazing; the live tour will feature National Geographic footage that can be mixed live onstage using iPads. Okay, that's not super-amazing but it's probably fun for the VJs concerned. If punters in the crowd can also mix footage in from their iPads that might also be amazing. Let's wait and see, eh? Amazing.

Something genuinely impressive though; she commissioned two new instruments to be invented for the album; a small organ controlled via MIDI equipment and "an old celeste that was rebuilt to incorporate the sounds of a traditional gamelan". You don't see Chris Martin inventing any new instruments, do you? A piano and few lasers and off he goes.

Björk's first Biophilia live show - a must-see for all iPad fetishists - hits London's Campfield Market Hall on June 30th.
