Sydney oddballs Richard In Your Mind – authors of one of our favourite tracks of this year, namely epic pysch sitar wig-out ‘Intranaut (Return of the Space Hindu)’, which features on their excellent Summertime EP – are gallivanting up the east coast in early July to launch their new album My Volcano. They’ll be supported by Rice Is Nice labelmate Spod - that's him sporting the baseball cap in the photo – which will quite possibly mean fun times and epic radness for all. If you’re keen for a piece of the action, the tour comes to Spectrum in Sydney on Saturday 3 July, the Northcote Social Club in Melbourne on Friday 9 July and Fans Nightclub in Brisbane on Friday 23 July.

Another Sydney band taking to the road are the freshly-renamed Pivot - they’re called PVT these days, apparently as a result of legal threats from a US band of the same name. The US version of Pivot are not The First Australian Act Signed To Warp™, but they are apparently “a group in relentless pursuit of perfection”. Judging by the songs on their MySpace, this pursuit hasn’t been relentless enough yet. Anyway, the band now known as PVT are heading back here from their adopted home in London for August – they play the Rosemount in Perth on Friday 6 August, the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Thursday 12 August, the Zoo in Brisbane on Thursday 19 August and the Manning Bar in Sydney on Saturday 21 August.

And in more ex-pat news, AC/DC fans who missed the band’s stadium shows earlier this year will be happy to hear that Warrnambool boozehounds Airbourne will be back home in October. The band – who recently released their second album No Guts, No Glory, which was the subject of one of the great Vine reviews – return home to play the Metro in Sydney on Friday 22 October, the Hi Fi Bar in Brisbane on Saturday 23 October, the Gov in Adelaide on Friday 29 October and the Hi Fi Bar in Melbourne on Monday 1 November. Hilariously, the tour is called the Back On The Piss tour. Rawk.
