Are Augie March packing it all in? Will the last date of their current tour in fact be their last ever? Can Geoff make it down the ravine in time to save Jenny? Will they ever bring back Tab? Answers below.*

Johnny Depp's favourite literary band announced a few months back that their current Watch Me Set My Strange Sun You Bloody Choir tour would be their last for a while. The group have been flat out over the last few years; collecting accolades, touring the US, doing the promo trail in Australia, recording in New Zealand and generally running at full tilt. Fair enough.

But language in the newest press release from the band has taken on slightly more doom-ish tone for Augie fans. From the tour's initial press wording noting that the run of dates will be the "last chance to see Augie March doing what they do before they take a well-earned breather", to the recent missive claiming their last show of the tour (in their hometown of Melbourne no less) will be "A grand end to Augie’s weird and wonderful 13-year adventure." End? Yikes.

The press clamours: "final headline show for a long, long time"; "last chance to see and hear Augie March live for years and years"; "The ability of the band to reach inside some of the most challenging and artful tunes penned in the last decade of this nation is at its muscular peak." Perhaps more encouraging was bassist Edmund Ammendola's frank assessment in our recent interview with him: "I would only hope the band can come back together at a future time and kind've do what we used to do, and rediscover us as musicians."

I think they're trying to say they're not playing for a while. You should probably go.

(Here's Augie playing on a late night US talk show, because it's weird and good.)

* Geoff did not get to Jenny in time and the twins perished in the ensuing fireball. Good one Geoff, you goose.
** According to Wikipedia: "Tab's share of the national soft drink market is minuscule."
