The new project for ex-Wolfmother members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett, in tandem with Matt Blackman from Charge Group, made their first public
appearance this week.
The new trio played in public for the first time at Sydney's Hopetoun Hotel on Monday night, with support from friend Spod. Featuring Matt Blackman on vocals, guitar and keys, Chris Ross on bass, keys, and guitar, and Myles Heskett on drums, Palace of Fire were - according to one verbose witness - "great". Others described it as a neat mix of the proggy-classic rock pound of
Wolfmother with the idiosyncratic inclinations and cinematic flourishes of Blackman's other band
Charge Group. Sounds good to me.
Will Reichelt was on hand to take some shots. The band perform for the first time in Melbourne at this weekend's
Boogie Rock festival.
