After months of tweets, venue wrangling and announcement date shifts, Soundwave Revolution has finally announced its full line-up. But not without a minor slip-up.
Promoter AJ Maddah claimed earlier in the day that the line-up would be released at 9:53pm this evening. But fans were surprised to find the offical site live at 9pm, toting the finalised line-up. "Well, announcement is out early",
tweeted Maddah. "What do you know! Go to website."
The new additions to the pointy end of the line-up are:
Van Halen (with David Lee Roth)
Hole
Alice Cooper
Machine Head
Danzig
Bad Religion
Altar Bridge
Versa Emerge
Sisters of Mercy
The Pretty Reckless
At a glance, organisers appear to have their diplomatic work cut out for them once the headliners hit Australian turf. Van Halen were in the news recently thanks to former singer Sammy Hagar's tell-all book
detailing lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen's sad descent into booze and drugs. Hagar also stated recently that "he's heard" that Van Halen's current recording sessions are mired in acrimony. Eslewhere, it's not quite crystal clear who will be in the band that human-headline Courtney Love will bring to Australia under the Hole moniker—while the current line-up contains no other original members of the band, Love has been seen in public recently with
Live Through This-era members Eric Erlandson, Melissa Auf de Mar and Patty Schemel (the latter of whom has stated her desire for the once-high profile foursome to reunite), though there are no current plans to do so.
As ever, the inner workings of the line-up wranglings have been revealed in part on Maddah's twitter page. Of particular interest to fans of Weezer, is that Maddah claimed earlier in the evening that he offered the much-loved pop band "$2M + costs for 5 shows", to no avail. He also wrote that Blink 182 weren't available due to "personal issues". Furthermore, previously announced Californian rock band Thrice dropped out of the festival line-up "just in time" for the announcement.
The newly announced bands above will join:
Dashboard Confessional
Hatebreed
Gojira
Street Dogs
Hollywood Undead
