While there's still grumbling in Melbourne (at least) over Soundwave's 2011 Revolution festival being held in the outer suburb of Melton, (as one irate local radio presenter quipped on air yesterday, after this year's festival the David Lee Roth-led Van Halen
still won't have ever played in Melbourne), the ever-savvy Soundwave team have begun posting a series of short video greetings online, from the artists playing the September event.
It's a decent way to get a glimpse of some of the personalities coming on the tour. And while there's yet to be a potentially libelous clip from the likes of Van Halen, Danzig or Courtney Love, we do get a lot of boasting about sex and animals.
Forthcoming TheVine interviewees Steel Panther are ready to " ______ some hot Australian _______". Oh and get on a plane.
San Franciscan pop-punk dudes Set Your Goals had to break the news to their dog...
An awkward the Swellers get farted on by their dog, and yet—paradoxically—ask you to not fuck around....
An airport-locked All Time Low are pretty excited to be coming for the uh, blowjobs...
Hellogoodbye interview themselves with poorly mixed results...
And a sunny Black Veil Brides (pictured) are pumped about seeing some animals and...didgeridoos...
...a greeting that was presumably shot before singer Andy Biersack shattered three ribs in an onstage fall on June 18th. The crunch comes at 1:50 (mute the audio though):
Biersack told the
NME afterwards that he was "trying to fly". And is currently in the position where he could potentially cause himself a collapsed lung at any moment. Cool story:
"I’ve currently got three shattered ribs, most of which are sort of like bone shrapnel in my back area. If I move too often I run the risk of those pieces of bone shifting and stabbing me, and sort of causing internal bleeding—and there’s also one very near my lung, that could potentially collapse it."
Yikes.
