We’ve been bursting to tell you this and now we can: Over a decade after indie rock legends Pavement hung up the cardies and called it a day, they’re back and they’re playing for us!
No doubt Pavement were one of the defining bands of the indie rock movement, when it shuffled out of the garage and onto the international stage in the ‘90s. You can still hear dudes in horn-rimmed glasses and chicks with bangs speaking in hushed tones about legendary albums like Slanted & Enchanted and Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain.
In 1999 they wound up with Terror Twilight and fans went on to write books and make documentaries about their lovingly crafted lo-fi gems. Frontman Stephen Malkmus kept trucking with the Jicks, but never equalled the critical and cultural success of Pavement.
The cutest thing about Pavement joining the Golden Plains line-up is that when a new campground road was built at the Meredith Ampitheatre they named it ‘Shady Lane’ after the band’s shoegaze classic.
If you can’t get to the gold soundz of Golden Plains, Pavement will be hitting the rest of the country too. Tickets for the national tour go on sale Friday October 23.
