Glacial flavour-of-the-month pop duo La Roux have announced sideshows to her/their Parklife appearance later in the year.

I must admit, I dig the La Roux album. I like that every song seems consisted of the same sounds and effects recycled in different ways. (Really). I like that it sounds like it was all made in Garageband. I like the cool tones of frontwoman Elly Jackson. And I like that it's a the darker side of pop. It's like there was a competition to make a hit record and while everyone else hired teams of producers, spent millions on rooms of equipment and hired the best of everyone, Jackson and bandmate/producer Ben Langmaid spent a winter in a bedroom with one keyboard and a Mac and did the business. Yes I'm sure it's not the case but if that's what their chintzy pop evokes - and the charts agree - then they've won anyway haven't they.

Looking forward to seeing her live. Hopefully she sings less like this:
