The Falls Festival, held in Victoria and Tasmania over NYE, have announced their playing times. Incredibly, Arctic Monkeys and Fleet Foxes will be opening proceedings on the first day, and have handed over the plum countdown slot on NYE to locals, Pretending Things Are Cock. Controversial. The Sydney Festival overlords have announced they will open their 2012 event with a free gig at the Domain featuring the eclectic line-up of Manu Chao, Washington, Gurrumul. It goes down on January 7th. And if it's anything like last year, and you don't want to be climbing over freeway fences to get in late....*cough*...arrive early, huh.

A bunch of Big Day Out sideshows have already sold out. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Foster The People appear to be the hottest tickets, with those two artists having officially shifted all their units. Girl Talk has sold out the Palace Theatre in Melbourne but still has some on sale for the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Saturday 28th January. And tickers ARE still on sale for the sideshows of:

Kanye West

My Chemical Romance
