Sentiment after the first announcement of the 2012 Big Day Out seemed to be ,"When will sideshows be announced?" But according to organisers, the initial flurry was only "half" the coming line-up: "Many more big names to come in the 2nd announce!" Today they come good on that promise. Of more names.

Furthermore, organisers have decided to downsize the event In Adelaide and Perth. They'll be moving the festival in Perth from Claremont Showgrounds to Brownes Stadium, meaning that Kanye West, Mariachi El Bronx and Hilltop Hoods will not play the Perth festival. In Adelaide, they're downsizing from seven to four stages, and will shed Kanye West, Mariachi El Bronx and the Living End in the process.

Here's organisers official statement on the changes:

"For our 20th year we have chosen to rebuild the Perth and Adelaide events from the ground up, with a goal to recapturing the magic of early Big Day Out shows.

Triggered by the need to change venues and the limited space available at our new site we have decided to look back to see the future for BDO.

We are not just moving the show to a more suitable venue but changing the entire design. We are excited the bands are into the idea and we know you will be too. One main stage, no D barricade, Skating & Skate stage in the main arena, Green stage, Boiler Room, Giant Water Slide, Show 'N' Shine and much, much more!"

In conjunction with the announcement, organisers have announced three opportunities for SA and WA ticket-holders to be reimbursed for the changes: a full refund, exchange for an east coast Big Day Out show or a $20 credit voucher at the merchandise stand.

If you're a skateboarding fan however, rejoice! Tony Hawk has decided to bring out a bunch of mates to join him on his 40-ft vert ramp: Sandro Diaz, Jesse Fritsch, Neil Hendrix, Kevin Staab, Elliot Sloan, Alex Perlson, Renton Millar, Jurgen Horwarth, Sam Beckett, Nathan "Jimmy" Beck, Adam Luxford, RJ Barbaro, Trevor Ward and Mick Mullhall will be appearing alongside the skate vet. Sausagefest.
