UK duo the Ting Tings will not be landing in Australia later this month. The band have announced that they are "delaying" their visit, and whilst no specific reason was given, the duo are currently holed up in a Berlin studio finishing up a new record, the follow up to 2008's
We Started Nothing.
This means of course that the band will not be playing Splendour in the Grass, nor performing their sideshows scheduled for Monday 26th July at Melbourne's Palace Theatre, Melbourne and Wednesday 28th July at Sydney's Enmore Theatre.
Refunds (to the sideshows - are you trying to tell us you bought Splendour in the Grass tickets just to see the TIng Tings? With
this lineup? Pfft.) are available.
All tickets purchased for the Melbourne and Sydney concerts using a credit card will be automatically refunded. Any patrons that bought tickets with cash will need to return to the point of purchase with photo ID to obtain a cash refund.
And whom will replace the Ting Tings at Splendour in the Grass? Some guys called Art vs Science. The Sydney trio's Splendour appearance will effectively mark the beginning of their 'Magic Fountain' tour, which technically launches on August 11th at the Great Northern in Byron Bay. The band's two Hi-Fi Bar shows in Melbourne have already sold out with other states suspected to follow (though there are tix left). All this possibly due to the kind of thing that made Triple J listeners vote Art vs Science their #5 overall favourite Australian live act as part of the Impossible Music Festival: The public forum within which to wave inflatable penguins around.
