So the release date for that new
red Weezer album has been pushed forward three weeks. It will now be out June 7th. The accompanying press release also mentions the (US) radio success of first single, the actually kinda good 'Pork and Beans': "The latest single 'Pork and Beans' produced by Jacknife Lee (U2, R.E.M.) has been embraced by US Modern Rock radio making it the quickest journey to #1 that any Weezer single has found in its illustrious history. The single has earned rave reviews in the UK’s NME and Rolling Stone."
That may be so but it's a shame about
those other tracks. Makes you wonder if it's been pushed forward in the same way that a bad film doesn't get any preview screenings, for fear that no one will go see it when it opens. Perhaps 'Pork and Beans' was well reviewed in the same way that a decent entree suggests the meal will be nice. If it's bile, that entrée doesn't seem like such a good deal anymore. No one says "OMG you MUST go to XXXX the entrée is GLORIOUS!!' when the main meal is just seal meat in squid juice.
