Everyone's favourite Fela Kuti referencing Brooklyn harmony-rock band
Dirty Projectors are coming out here for the
greatest human gathering known to man Golden Plains Festival. The excellent band, led by David Longstreth, have released one of the records of the year in
Bitte Orca, so this thing'll sell out pretty quick no doubt.
And rightly so. The band were on US talk show Jimmy Fallon last week, where the house band are hip-hop legends The Roots. Questlove, drummer and musical director for that group, shot this vid backstage of the Dirty Projector's doing their 5.1 surround harmony thing. Pretty amazing.

As we know,
The xx are coming out here for the fairly great looking 2010 Laneway Festival. They've not yet announced sideshows, but that didn't stop the band listing on their
MySpace a Melbourne sideshow at the Northcote Social Club for Wednesday 3rd February. For a while anyway, the listing has now been pulled. In one sense - great. In another - holy crap that place is going to split at the seams. Stay tuned.
We
spoke to singer Romy Madley Croft a couple of weeks ago. She was lovely. For the record.

The South by Southwest Music Festival and Conference battle of the bands goes down in Austin Texas March 17-21, 2010. Who will be the victors? Who will have their childhood dreams crushed beyond repair? Who will max out their Blackberry? And who will live to see another parched landscape zipping by the Tarago window? All we really know for sure is that the internet will one day swallow them all.
