Considering Radiohead agonise over every miniscule electronic flutter on their records it must be a relief to be able to see someone else do the sweating. A competition has been running - via animation website
Aniboom - to make an animated video for one of the tracks off Radiohead's
giveaway record
In Rainbows. The winner receives $10,000 to help them finish the video, uponce whence it shall become an OFFICIAL video for the band. And thus known throughout all the land.
*church bells*The competition began on March 17 and in this, the last week of competition, they've whittled the field down to 13 finalists. They range from simple sketches and stop-motion, to Manga, to that now familiar After Effects vibe and full blown Pixar-style visual feasts. As befitting Radiohead's aesthetic, every one is odd, moving and creatively arresting.
Watch them all here. I think my favourite is the building-shifting 'Videotape'. Or the Wallace and Gromit meets
Bladerunner look of 'Reckoner'. Have a look. Vote. If you like. I'm not your mother.
