Australian music festivals are enjoying halcyon days at the moment. The majority sell out in record time regardless of line-up detils and such growth has seen all manner of niche events, experiences and versions fan out into endless variations.

But the Grandddy of them all, The Big Day Out, remains the summer's marquee event. More reliable than Southern Cross tatt's and sunburn, organisers have announced details of January's line-up. As expected Neil Young, My Morning Jacket and the Arctic Monkeys are in the mix. Here's the details:

Like last year, tickets for the event will be staggered over three days. Tickets for the Sydney show go first on Wednesday 8th October, the Gold Coast follows on Thursday 9th October and Auckland, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth all fight for bandwidth on Friday 10th October.

FRIDAY JANUARY 16th - AUCKLAND MT SMART STADIUM
